From ancient Rome, ca. 3rd - 4th century B.C. Gold ring with red jasper intaglio features open gold wire work on ring, held together with pellets. Bezel is mounted from back decorative rim and folded up on intaglio. Intaglio corresponds to BMC 557 (var.) and is a representation of Kheiron walking r. playing the double flute. 19 x 20 mm. internal diameter of band. 12 x 10 mm. intaglio.
