К вопросу о Техасе, в котором всё самое-самое. Наткнулась на видеозапись коронации "королевы" ежегодного фестиваля в Сан-Антонио (выбираются королева, принцесса и 24 герцогини). Платья не просто со шлейфами, а с "умри-всё-живое-шлейфами"!



Когда вся "монархия" выстраивается на помосте, это похоже на большой лоскутный ковёр. :)

Texas dip - ныряй поглубже

Когда на заре туманной юности я смотрела сериал "Беверли-Хиллз", в одной из серий меня поразил реверанс, который одна из героинь репетировала для бала дебютанток. Не глубокий, а чрезвычайно глубокий. Юная леди в пышном белом платье буквально распластывается по полу (говорят, важно в последний момент чуть повернуть лицо в сторону - чтобы не испачкать губной помадой подол). И вот сегодня мне попалась фотография:



Это так называемый "Texas dip" (букв. - "техасское погружение"), поклон, который на ежегодном международном балу дебютанток в Нью-Йорке в гостинице "Уолдорф-Астория" делают девицы из Техаса. И, естественно, это требует тренировки и немалой сноровки - ведь нужно не только грациозно опуститься, но и подняться!

Полагаю, что этот, гм, трюк придумали джентльмены - чтобы было удобно заглядывать "новеньким" в декольте. :)
