Two-piece day dress, ca. 1897. Maroon silk satin with plain-woven stripes of thin white & black stripes lined with tan cotton. Closely fitted, with boned seams & darts. Skirt has very narrow pleats every few inches for ease of movement; pocket in rear right seam. emuseum of the Connecticut Historical SocietySource Dress, Robina, Paris, 1893. Black silk with pink and green accents. Fitted bodice with small standing collar; long leg-o-mutton sleeves. Black boned silk satin stomacher trimmed with green and pink ribbons and jet beading. Center front hook & eye closure; stomacher fastens at proper left side seam. Straight, floor-length skirt with hook & eye closures at center back. Chicago History Museum
